What you need to know about Chronic Pain



If a pain is not new, but have been troubling in more or less the same way and with much the same degree of severity for several months or more it can be considered as a Chronic pain.

Chronic back pain tends to last a long time, and is not relieved by standard treatments. It may result from a previous injury long since healed, or it may have an ongoing cause, such as nerve damage or arthritis.


What you need to know about Numbness and Weakness

Numbness and weakness are felt when nerve signals do not travel properly between the brain and nociceptors (special sense receptors in the skin, muscles or internal organs).

Weakness may also result form the problem in the muscles themselves, however the most common cause of muscles weakness is inactivity.

Numbness always indicates some sort of nerve damage in the peripheral nervous system or the central nervous system (i.e. the spine or the brain) and deserves immediate medical attention.

Numbness and weakness are often accompanied by “pins and needles” type of sensation in the limbs.

Common spinal causes of numbness and weakness are as following:

Radiculopathy - a compression and irritation of spinal nerve root;
Spinal Stenosis - a narrowing of the spinal canal, which can compress sensory nerve fibers;
There are also some cerebral causes of numbness and weakness such as stroke, seizures, concussion etc.
